Hero Model Update #2

Hero Model Update #2

This past week has flown by in the studio, in the midst of trying to bring the modelling, texturing and look development together for the hero character.  The work and development that both Victor and Stephen have done - the rigging and animation processes -  have been really exciting to see.  Finally the model is able to been seen moving and posing!

Another week has gone by and we are slowly chipping away at getting this guy ready for release. This last week was mostly spent painting weights on the geo and tweaking the muscle settings to try to get the best deformations we could. We are almost finished with it and the results so far are looking pretty great!

The Hero character is going to be our next release, and he is just about ready!  The  Zbrush sculpt is pretty much done (for now), though the workflow for Texturing and Look Dev has included forays into Zbrush on pretty much a daily basis.  This post shows how the final detailing was sculpted onto the mesh.

Is that a muscle system, you ask? Well, yes and no. Victor, our Senior Rigger here at CG Breakdown, has developed a new way to simulate muscles in our rigs. It combines the jiggle and bulging/stretching of Maya Muscle but works real-time so you can scrub, tweak and visualize the effects of the muscles on a frame-by-frame basis instead of needing to cache the muscles or 'play' the timeline. Let me show you how they work.
